LUCY WILLIAMS HAMMOND

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal, Feb 19, 1895

We are pained to chronicle the death of Mrs. Alex Hammond, which occurred yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from heart disease. Miss Lucy Williams was bornin Bracken Co, Ky Dec 15, 1855, making her age at the time of her death, 40 years, 2 months and 3 days. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Williams. She moved with them to Ripley Oho when quite young and now at the time of her death she leaves two sisters, a brother, husband, son and daughter as well as a host of friends to mourn her loss. Se was not confined to her bed, but had been complaining about two weeks. The members of the family did not consider matters serious, for in her sufferings she was patient and without a murmur trusted in God. In her death the community loses one of its most earnest and faithful members, the husband and children a loving and faithful wife and mother. In her sickness the only thing that gave her any pain whatever was the thought of leaving her children; but we are compelled to console ourselves in this thought, that our loss is her eternal gain. Husband and children have the sympathy of all in this their bereavement. Time of funeral Wed. afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the A.M.E. Church. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery - transcribed by kbz
